I waited until I returned to the office before I picked up my cell phone and called Nicholas. The call was quickly answered, but it wasn’t Nicholas. It was Madeleine. Madeleine was very proud and said, “Why? Now you know to call to apologize?” “I tell you, it’s too late. You can just pack up and leave. Don’t blame me as a sister-in-law for being too cunning.
