Chapter 1
I was the only daughter of the richest man in Silverdawn and I was brought up in the Lucienne Family, an old friend of my family, from a child to now. Paul, had long declared, whoever of his three sons married me would be the heir of the Lucienne Group. In my past life, I chose Arnold, whom I had long admired and I didn’t hesitate to use the manpower and financial resources of my family to push him to the throne of the new richest man. But when he gained power, Arnold immediately locked me up in a mental hospital. He bribed the doctors inside and subjected me to electric therapy and whipping every day. He also abandoned my one and only relative, my grandmother, in the wilderness and left her to die of dehydration and starvation. Knowing all of this, I went crazy to fight against Arnold, but he asked someone to perform a craniotomy on me without anesthesia and cut off my frontal lobe to feed the dog. “Have you finally experienced the pain of life worse than death? I’ve been going through this for ten years!” “If you hadn’t insisted on marrying me ten years ago, how could Scarlett have committed suicide?” I died in pain on the operating table. As soon as I opened my eyes, I was back to the day of choosing my husband. —— “Tatiana, look at my three sons! Is there any of them catches your eye?” In the front hall of the Lucienne Family’s manor, Paul Lucienne sat in the main seat and smiled at me lovingly. Since my parents unexpectedly passed away at a young age, I was brought up in the Lucienne Family, which had been my family’s friend for several generations. Paul and his wife, Natalie Lucienne, not only treated me as their own daughter, but also cared and loved me much more than their three biological sons and never let me suffer any injustice. Apart from the long-standing friendship between the two families, the more important reason was, I, Tatiana Watson, was the only daughter of the Watson Family, the richest in Silverdawn. So whoever married me would inherit the Watson Family’s vast wealth and bussiness network that had been established in Silverdawn for over a hundred years. In order to optimize both families’ resources, Paul had announced to his three sons, whoever won my heart would be the next heir to the Lucienne Family. In the hall stood three men in suits and leather shoes, all of them had sharp eyebrows, bright eyes and handsome face. The other two brothers smiled at me with a calm and gentle expression, but Arnold Lucienne, who was standing on the far right, had a cold and stern expression, as if I owed him two million five hundred thousand dollars. As I fell silent, I could hear the whispers of several servants in the hallway. “Over the past few years, anyone can see that Ms. Watson truly has her feelings on the third son, Mr. Arnold Lucienne and she can’t even hide her feelings.” “Yeah, she has given him watches, luxury cars and yachts since he was a child. Those items are worth at least billions of dollars, but Mr. Lucienne is still so cold to her and never even smiles at her.” Louder and louder they spoke until the butler of the Lucienne Family coughed lightly in front of the door and then they quieted down again. Seeing me remain silent, Arnold’s expression became even more impatient. He folded his arms across his chest and glanced at me with disdain. “It’s time, why are you deliberately acting so arrogant? You’re making the sons of the Luciennes seem like the dishes on your plate, you can pick and choose as you please!” said Arnold. Paul’s face darkened. “Arnold, you’re so rude to Tatiana, watch your attitude!” Arnold snorted and turned his head away. “Dad, you get me wrong. She can’t listen to polite words, but can only listen to the harsh words.” There was a moment of silence in the hall. Paul’s chest heaved violently with anger, but he tried his best to suppress it. The reason was simply because I was there. In the past decade or so, whenever Paul had any lessons or criticize against his third son, I would stand in front of him with tears in my eyes and ask Paul to let him go. Or, I would plop down on my knees until Paul’s anger subsided. Just then he would feel sorry for me and try not to get angry in front of me. So the entire Lucienne Family knew that I was Arnold’s talisman.
